i
saw a footprint
by Wesley C. Smeal
i saw a footprint resting in the snow a footprint silent and immovable
someone had left
it resting in the snow quietly resting in the soft white snow
one passed before me and left
his footprint resting in the snow so that i might know
one had passed that way and left a footprint resting in the snow that will soon be gone
silently i pass the silent footprint resting in the
snow and i remember
he has gone ahead to his home and friends to find his real self quite immovable
